Maintaining the public's trust is crucial to a nonprofit's continued work and yet, the misdeeds of a few have made it hard for the rest of us. How does your agency identify and resolve ethical dilemmas? In this course, we will look at ethical dilemmas in several areas of nonprofit management: finances, board governance, fundraising, and human resources. We will explore ethical decision-making models and determining a course of action based on your agency's values. We will also look at steps nonprofits can take to avoid ethical pitfalls, including developing an organizational code of conduct. Much of the class will involve working on case studies with other class members.
This course counts as a Key Elective course under Human Resource Development for the Certificate in Nonprofit Management.
